Too Faced “Little Black Book of Beauty” Review.

I am a massive fan of Too Faced and have so far loved every product of theirs I have tried.

When I ordered this product I was really looking forward to it arriving, I stupidly ordered it before doing any research on it. Every review I found was terrible. If I had read them earlier I would never have bought it.

When it arrived I couldn’t wait to have a play, hopeful that I didn’t agree with the  reviews I had seen.

I ordered the pallet through beauty bay.com a favourite of mine and it arrived in around 4 weeks (not great, but pretty standard for them, also its free postage so who cares?!)

Just take a minute to appreciate how gorgeous the actual pallet is! How decadent and yummy! You also receive a trial size Deluxe Lash Injection mascara.

With the pallet you receive a travel size mascara, a nice touch. On first impressions I LOVE LOVE LOVE the look of the pallet. Its a sturdy plastic but so deluxe looking.

This pallet prides itself on having all the cosmetics you need in one place. Even though this isn’t completely accurate (complexion products, lipsticks and liner and must haves in my opinion) it comes pretty blooming close. The amount of different eye looks you can create using the colours in this pallet is almost endless.

I leave a plastic sheet between the two ‘pages’ to stop product transfer, last thing I want is a chunk of black eyeshadow in my blush colours.

I used Too Faced ‘Shadow Insurance’ under all these swatches…

The complexion powders. Left to right: Candlelight (highlight), Light bronze (bronzer), Coral shimmer (blush) & La Vie En Rose (blush).

The complexion powders. Left to right: Candlelight (highlight), Light bronze (bronzer), Coral shimmer (blush) & La Vie En Rose (blush).

Candlelight: A really nice highlight colour. Very white though so wouldn’t work on deeper skin tones, but for myself its really nice.

Light Bronze: I loath this bronzer. It is waaaaay too orange for me (or anyone for that matter). Nothing positive to say.

Coral Shimmer: This colour looks so lovely in the pan and I mean, its not terrible, but its not fantastic either. Its really very pale although it looks LOVELY when teamed with the other blush in the pallet.

La Vie En Rose: My favourite product in this pallet. Just a gorgeous blush colour. Its more of a winter/autumn tone but its so lovely I will wear it all year long. Just lovely.

Now the eyeshadows….

Left to right: Light Beige Shimmer, Light Pink Champagne, Matte Rose & Brown Shimmer.

Left to right: Light Beige Shimmer, Light Pink Champagne, Matte Rose & Brown Shimmer.

Light Beige Shimmer: While this is a nice colour, its just so pale. It takes a bit of working but once layered, its really lovely.

Light Pink Champagne: A really nice baby pink.

Matte Rose: Really like this colour, sort of similar to the blush. Really nice.

Brown Shimmer: A nice brown shade, would have preferred it if it was matte though.

Left to right: Nude Sparkle, Copper, Mauve & Olive Green.

Left to right: Nude Sparkle, Copper, Mauve & Olive Green.

Nude Sparkle: Love this colour! Great for a  base, blends lovely.

Copper: Very gritty due to glitter but such a beautiful colour!

Mauve: Not a fan, its too grey for me and not a strong pigment.

Olive Green: Exactly as it says, olive green. Its a nice addition though.

Left to right: Warm Bronze Sparkle, Taupe Shimmer, Purple Shimmer & Black Shimmer.

Left to right: Warm Bronze Sparkle, Taupe Shimmer, Purple Shimmer & Black Shimmer.

Warm Bronze Sparkle: Lovely colour, I love bronze shades, but by “sparkle” they mean glitter, not everyones cup of tea.

Taupe Shimmer: Not the greatest, not very pigmented. Had potential to be a really great addition but falls short.

Purple Shimmer: I really like this shade! Nice purples can be hard to come by but this is lovely.

Black Shimmer: Average black, not jet black. Would have preferred a matte black with more focus on pigment.

Lip Cream…

"Lip Cream" in Pink.

Lip Gloss in “Pink”: Yuck! Super sticky and just yuck. The colour isn’t anything special and isn’t worth putting up with the stickiness for.

The mascara…

Deluxe Lash Injection Mascara in "Black".

Deluxe Lash Injection Mascara in “Black”.

Lash Injection Mascara: This is a nice mascara. Not my favourite ever but a nice addition to this kit and a decent mascara. Quite black and a good formula that isn’t too heavy.

To sum it up…

Cost:
$49ish (changes from $48-$50)

Where from:
beautybay.com (Its a beautybay exclusive product).

What you get:
The palette with 12 eyeshadows, 2 blushes, 1 highlight, 1 bronzer, 1 lip gloss and 1 travel sized mascara. Bang for your buck!

Pros:
The fact I have almost every piece of makeup I need for a look in one little palette. Great for traveling. The fact the packaging is so sturdy makes it ideal for travel as well.

Cons:
The gloss is horrible and the eyeshadows are a bit hit and miss thats all.

Would I purchase it again:
Probably not, there is so many other palettes I want to try!

Will it be going into my personal or professional kit:
Personal, I mean its a nice palette but not professional quality in my opinion.

Emma x.
